As part of a strategic plan to improve spaces necessary to the development of the whole child in mind, body and spirit, a new 39,000 sf athletic facility is proposed for the Merle Smith Campus at Moravian Academy. The facility will emphasize wellness by creating spaces to coach and support athletes, including a training room, 2,500 sf weight and fitness room and two multi-purpose classrooms, all connected by a corridor that borders the gym on two sides. The new 24,000 sf gym will house two full-size basketball courts, one competition court and a multi-purpose court with synthetic flooring for other fitness activities. Separate locker rooms for students and faculty will be located adjacent to the gym.
