The addition to the Mercer Museum will provide new gallery and classroom areas and will provide flexible venues for traveling exhibitions, interactive programs for children and educational spaces. The addition will also serve as the primary entrance and orientation space and will therefore have a grand entry hall that allows immediate views and connections to the original museum. The design approach treats the addition as a series of landscaped walls that work to simultaneously complement, challenge, and harmonize with the existing architectural language; the poured-in-place concrete creates a plinth to showcase the original Mercer Castle.
