As the result of a Design Build competition, a new 3,200-bed residence hall complex was planned to replace aging 1960’s era dorms. While the university originally outlined a 10-year project, our team was able to shorten the schedule by 5 years, saving $2 million in the first phase alone. Allegheny and Brandywine Halls opened in the Fall of 2009, providing 1,100 beds. Each building features study lounges and laundry facilities on each floor, recreational and common spaces, a small theater, a fitness center, and a visiting faculty apartment. Together, these gothic revival style buildings create a quadrangle that serves as an important student gathering space.
