In this first phase of a $25 million LEED Gold athletic center, VMA inserted five new squash courts with glass back walls into renovated existing space, and reclaimed underutilized storage space to create a multipurpose room. The squash courts take advantage of natural daylighting which is introduced into the space via a series of clerestories, while new windows cut into the south facing masonry wall of the multipurpose room fill this partially below grade space with warm winter rays.
